Dispensary Fonjumetaw

Located on a plateau approx. 1 hour away from Fontem the dispensary serves the basic medical needs of this place with poor infrastructure. This satellite health center was opened in 1972 on land donated by Fon Fonjumetaw. It was very helpful to have a clinic on an altitude of 1600 meters where no tsetse fly has its habitat. That’s the explanation for the succesful eradication of the sleeping sickness. Those patients who were infected with the sleeping sickness were brought to Fonjumetaw, where a succesful treatment protocol was developped. This form oftreatment is now used in the whole of Cameroon and many other countries.
